Hola todos, hello everyone, my name's Alex, I'm 29 years old from Cambridge, UK.
I've tried to start learning Spanish several times over the last few years but never really got beyond initial basics to florish gramatically and speak and understand more. Hopefully with the help of the apparently kind-hearted people of this forum I can start to change that and really enjoy learning. Look forward to the correspondence, Gracias y hasta luego Alex |

alex, welcome to the forum and of course we'll try to help, but just corresponding will not be of much use... you can read some good Spanish books (whatever subject and language variety you find most interesting), but you should also get involved in conversation. first of all, in my opinion, so as to enjoy learning our language as you want, you need to start "liking" the language. find activities to do in Spanish that you really care for (movies or TV-shows to see, music to listen to, etc.) but also try to get the little or lot you know "in movement": interact with other Spahish-speakers -if you could visit any Spanish-speaking country, you'd probably develop a real "taste" for Spanish in no time and you'd certainly learn easily and with pleasure!

Muchos gracias, chicos!
Of course I know that being part of this forum alone will not really help me to learn the language on the whole, but I hope by interacting I will pick some useful things up. By the way, if anyone has a queery relating to English, be it slang or otherwise I'll be happy to try and help. Hasta luego, Alex |

Hi Alex.. first you´re most welcome here, and sure hope you find this forum both fun and useful... I agree with Laura, the most important thing is to speak Spanish as much as you can... I´m not a native Spanish speaker, I learned it in College, and though I graduated in Spanish Literature with an "A", I hardly was able to hold a conversation.. So I travelled to Spain and lived their for a while, and that what really improved my Spanish... If travelling in not an option, try to get in touch with Spanish people in England.. This is the site of the Cervantes Institute in London, I think it´s not that far from Cambirdge, you might find it interesting passing by http://londres.cervantes.es/en/default.shtm
Good Luck ![]() Lamia |

Ya ves, esa si es la mejor forma de aprender un idioma, hablarlo con alguien todos los días si es posible en situaciones cotidianas....Suerte a ambos con los idiomas.....
