    Default talk about/ talk of

Se puede usar cualquiera de las dos preposiciones en este caso (TALKING ABOUT / OF) Cual es la diferencia gracias!!
Those phrases which start with like, also suggest that we are talking about/of an idiom, for example “like a bat out of hell”, “like water off a duck’s back”.

You should say "talk about." We do not say "talk of."

"...talking about an idiom" would be correct.

But we do say "speak of". For example: Were you speaking of an idiom in Spanish? I was talking about one in English.

Cuando estamos hablando de una persona, y, de repente, ésta entra, decimos “Speak of the devil”!

E.g. talk about something with somebody. I use this English-Spanish dictionary and it helps me a lot. :-)

    Talk about something.

But, you can say, for example: There is talk of ...
This refers in a general and passive sense to communication about a topic.
For example, a worker having heard different people say different things about the possibility of lay-offs might say that "there is talk of lay-offs".
