I would appreciate your help translating the following: "Siento que estoy por demostrar lo tanto que me han ayudado."
I think I understand all but the "estoy por demostrar" Thanks! |

"estoy por demostrar" = " i'm about to express (show) how much you have helped me." ?es posible otro sentido en que traducirla?
en primer lugar, ?es que lo siente, pero mas vale tarde que nunca para responder? hermit Last edited by hermit : 06-22-2009 at 05:11 PM. |

Hermit,
I totally agree with you. I'm about to express how much you have helped me. Then between show and express, I'd prefer "express". Does anyone can help us about to know what is more suitable in this case ? Or it doesn't make a big difference ? Hope someone can help us ![]() Regards Vincent

Son casi igual, pero podría “show” sin hablar ni escribir por, tal vez, un regalito. “Express” usualmente es por hablar o escribir.

It seems to me a different sense could be inferred. "Demostrar" also means to prove and, in this sense, "show" is more appropriate. However, the intention of the speaker is not very clear.
Does the speaker mean the effects of assistance received will now become apparent? Or that the speaker will now show appreciation? 1- I am about to reap/harvest/show [the effects of] so much help poured on me. (and variations thereof) 2- I am about to express my gratitude for the enormous help I have received (and its variations) However, in the Spanish original, I would change "lo tanto que" for "lo mucho que". "Tanto" would be used without "lo". I hope this helps. |

However, the sentence makes no sense in Spanish.
why is the "siento" at the beginning? and lo tanto is incorrect....I guess this was not said by a native. so he is sorry to be about to tell......???

I think Siento in this phrase means
I have the feeling that... Of course, as exx said, "I have the feeling" this was not said by a native. ![]()
