    Question Help with strange idiom

How would one accurately interpret " he aired his dirty laundry in public " ?
What is the background in Spanish for something like this?

    LOL!!!!!

That's an absolutely literal translation from "sacó los trapitos sucios afuera", meaning (in Spanish) that some personal issue was exposed, when it should have been discussed privately.

    Hope it helps.

In Argentina we say "sacar los trapitos al sol", and it means exactly what Maria said
