    Default it is only fair

Hola. ¿Cómo se traduciría "it is only fair" en el texto siguiente?:
"And when may your friends hope to see your ladyship in London?" I inquired.
"Whenever my nephew is sufficiently recovered to give me away," she answered. "As no man in his senses would dream of marrying me now, except for my position, it is only fair the kind good soul who gives so much in return for so little should have all the pleasure and éclat out of my relatives it is possible to extract from them."Gracias por vuestra ayuda.

"...it is only fair the kind good soul ...should have all the pleasure..."

Re only fair. I would not say that "only" provides emphasis per se, rather, it gives a slightly different meaning to "fair", and is one of those English phrases that is hard (for me) to explain. "That's fair" means "that's just", whereas, "That's only fair" means that's really the least one should do. So, I was not sure how to best say that in Spanish. Estafania's post, and yours, got me to thinking on the right track. Does that make sense?
