    Default to brek the four-minute mile

    "If you're trying to break the four minute mile, you have yo give of yourself".

    "Si tratas de superar la milla de cuatro minutos tienes que dar algo de ti".

    La duda principal se relaciona con cómo traducir "four minute mile" para que quede natural en español, o sea, sustituir milla por kilómetro, pero ¿habría que también poner "más de seis" en vez de "cuatro"?

    Me parece que en este caso no es necesario cambiar millas por kilómetros. Si en ese deporte se utiliza millas, déjalo en millas.

    Martín Fierro, podrías enviar más contexto? Si esta frase es una metáfora, hay que ver sobre qué está hablando y sacar de ahí la idea con una "frase equivalente" en español. Me interesaría que otros foristas opinen también, porque con "mile" hay varios giros idiomáticos en inglés que por supuesto, no se traducen literalmente. (se me viene a la cabeza "to go the extra mile".)

    En las pistas y entre los corredores a nivel competencia, correr una milla en 4 minutos o menos es para profesionales. Considera que el récord mundial bajó de 4 minutos en los años 60 y en este momento anda en 3:43 para hombres y 4:12 para mujeres según las progresiones y estadísticas en Wiki.     Por tanto, para un corredor, o corredora profesional, no sería difícil escuchar que alguién le diga: "si pretendes (o intentas) romper los 4 minutos en la milla, debes poner de tu parte"
