Suggestions

Hello!

I will be having my family visit me in Argentina in the next few months (possibly February or March). I want to help them arrange some trips around the country and wondering if anyone has suggestions/recommendations.

They will be here for nearly three wks, it will be: my father, who loves nature, my mother, who needs some relaxing, and my sister, who loves traveling in general so she’s easy to please!

I am not Argentinean myself, so any and all ideas will be of great help!

Well, there are so many places to visit, but to name just a few:

- Cataratas del Iguazú
- Villa la Angostura-San Martín de los Andes-Bariloche (Patagonia!!)
- Salta and Jujuy
- Córdoba (and surroundings)
- Mendoza

All these places are very distinctive, really beautiful...

I agree 100 % with Nadia and Victoria.

you´ll need about:

- 3 or 4 days for Cataratas del Iguazú. 4 days will do.
- 4 days for Calafate- Perito Moreno.

and you might need some more days for the other areas, since those are not particular spots but areas you want to travel around.

If they have the chance to visit the South and Northwest they´ll be amazed by the landscapes and kindness of people.

I agree with all the suggestions, but if you have time limits and don't want to travel around too much, I personally think the Northwest would be the best option. It offers anything from desert to subtropical forest all within a few hours' drive from any of the major cities (Salta, San Miguel de Tucumán, San Salvador de Jujuy). I think Salta is probably one of the most beautiful cities in Argentina, and San Miguel de Tucumán is also really interesting. There's the ruins of Quilmes in Tucumán, the wine-producing area around Cafayate in Salta, the Quebrada de Humahuaca in Jujuy, and many other things to see. This region of Argentina was very important during the colonial period, so there are lots of sites of historical interest as well, particularly in the city of Salta.

Thank you sooo much everyone! These are very helpful!!! I will be looking into all possibilities and then I’ll give them to choose.

Matt, your suggestions come extremely handy because they recently decided to stop in Colombia first so that gives them less time here.

Analau, I doubt that I can go with them, but I will for sure be their Buenos Aires guide!

Matt is right, those places are really cool and cheap...

Oh and if you happen to choose Calafate, bear in mind that it is extremely expensive (that's why I didn't include it in my list... jejeje).
