    Default Song Makes No Sense

Writing about songs that make no sense here is another example.

SHE CAME IN THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW

    PROTECTED BY A SILVER SPOON

AND NOW SHE SUCKS HER THUMB IN WONDER

BY THE BANKS OF HER OWN LAGOON

I think this song makes a lot of sense.

This verse is talking about dru* abuse. The silver spoon represents the "heating" or boiling the dru* ,I wonder which word they use.

Now she sucks her thumb, because she has gone back to childhood as her mind and brains have been dried out by drugs and she has a lot of "lagoons", memory lagoons, all due to doing drugs.

Of course, this can all be just my imagination...

Not so fast! A baby born with a "silver spoon" in its mouth means that his or her parents are rich and the child will never have to work hard or struggle in its life. So, I would recommend reading the lyrics again with that in mind and you can get quite a different picture...

I did say that it could be all in my mind!

So, of course, true! The silver spoon bit I actually knew, but was so focused on drugs....

I don't know, still, then the rest has nothing to do with this rich upbringing. What do you make of it, scott?

Well, truth be told I'm not the biggest Beatles fan (*dodges tomatoes*), but I do know that this song is based on a true story...and this is also at the time from when they were experimenting in more "abstract" imagery (if I have to explain "Yellow Submarine", I am logging off and not coming back), so I'm not sure it "means" anything literally.

You can look at it a couple of ways, though: it describes a young girl who tried to take on too much, too soon in a big city and eventually ended up regressing ("sucking her thumb") and becoming more and more withdrawn from the outside world ("wanders by the banks of her own lagoon"--I should note that "memory lagoon" is not a phrase in English like it is in Spanish and "gap" would probably be the best translation for "laguna" in this sense). That's the interpretation I put to it when I read it. Of course a lot of drugs were involved and I could see these lines being written with a wink and a nudge, but my gut feeling is still that it's a rich girl who wasn't taught how to survive on her own...feel free to disagree...

A song always makes sense for the person who writes it! That's the most important! If it also makes sense for others, even best!

Regarding cerebro: Busco una forma de celebrar las ideas sembradas en mi cerebro pero solamente me he encontrado que sin mente no hay acuerdo.

I seek to celebrate ideas in my brain, that have been planted, but the only thing I have encountered is that without the mind, agreement is not granted.
