This should probably be a separate post, but the Argentine nickname thing is weird; my aunt-in-law (it exists now! the word officially exists!) is named Susana, but that's not good enough...I have to call her "Pipi". Why? I have no idea.

    Default Unmessy Messi

    Hey.

I reely dunno why people insist on comparing Messi with Maradona. He is a fantastic foopball player and in fact he played a blinder last season. But do not pedestalise him, that's putting too much pressure on him.

Probably, because the Argentine community is ALWAYS looking for "the next Maradona"...

I joined the forum today (left a message on the newbies' board), and have stumbled across these comments. Last night, Barcelona qualified for the Final of the European Championship on 28th May when they will be playing Manchester United. It probabaly could have been done without Messi, but he made it so much easier, exciting and a joy to watch. Not just last night's match, the whole competition and, indeed, the Spanish League Championship of which Barça are virtual winners.

There is no doubt that Messi is the best player in the world and, at 23, he still has a long way to go nd time to become really outstanding. He also seems to be free of the bd habits that have ruined so many promising careers: Maradona who currently has great difficulty in stringing two intelligible and intelligent words one after the other. His brain has been fried by all that cocaine and alcohol abuse. Others that could be added to the list are George Best and Paul Gascoigne, etc.

    Comments?

Messi plays football like a PlayStation game, amazing player, but Maradona did things beyond the imagination... I hope Messi escapes maradona´s fate.
