Hi guys!
I have 3 questions, can u help me? fixer: according to the context and the dictionary, fixer is someone who uses some kind of liquid for photography. Following the context: Beatles fixer and friend takes secrets to the grave (it's a headline) how can I translate it? It is a job, isn't it? Shilling is a "chelin" how much is a Shilling? Born in Prestatyn in 1941, Neil was in the same year at Liverpool Institute as Paul, and the year above George Nacido en Prestatyn en 1941, Neil se encontraba, en ese año, en el Instituo Liverpool al igual que Paul (does it mean that they both were born in the same place, in Liverpool Institute? y el año ABOVE George the ABOVE is driving me crazy, i can't make sense of it. Could it be that George was born a year later, 1942??? Thank you very much DIEGO |

Hi Diego! I hope this helps:
A fixer is a contractor who 'fixes' or books people for recordings or concerts. American production jargon for a re-recording of a poor performance. www.sudeepaudio.com/glossary_details.php A shilling was a coin used in the United Kingdom, worth one twentieth of a pound, 5 new pence, or 12 old pence prior to 1971. http://www.answers.com/topic/shilling?cat=biz-fin With regards to the word "above", it refers to the year mentioned above, that is, 1941. Keep in touch! Regards ![]() |

Hey Diego: This British writing is a bit confusing until you realize that year means class, as in school: Neil was born in Prestlyn. Neil was in the same class (year) with Paul at Liverpool Institute and and they were one class (year) above (ahead of)George (who also was attending Liverpool Institute). This says only that Neil was born in 1941. It does not address the ages or birth places of Paul and George, merely that they all three went to the same school..

Hola Diego!

Oh my God!!!
I feel pretty ashamed since now that i am reading it again, it is very clear that "Year" refers to the grade they were in, and Institute to the school, and the "above year" refers to a higher year. Thank you all Exxcentrica, Vicente, Morela, and Mem!!! ![]() |
