If the Literary translation category is created poems should be posted in this section for sure...Has anybody heard of the Haiku verse?

Un gran poeta de nuestra lengua, el uruguayo Mario Benedetti, tiene un libro de este género, llamado "Rincón de haikus" (no es lo mejor que ha hecho, en mi opinión, pero es interesante). Escribe, don Mario: <<Encerrar en 17 sílabas ( y además, con escisiones predeterminadas), una sensación, una duda, una opinión, un sentimiento, un paisaje, y hasta una breve anécdota, empezó siendo un juego.
Pero de a poco uno va captando las nuevas posibilidades de la vieja estructura. Así la dificultad formal pasa a ser un aliciente y la brevedad una provocativa forma de síntesis.>> algunos ejemplos del libro: si en el crepúsculo el sol era memoria ya no me acuerdo por si las moscas hay profetas que callan su profecía después de todo la muerte es sólo un síntoma de que hubo vida la mariposa recordará por siempre que fue gusano |

hi, sabrina,
the difference is the amount of verses: haikus have 17 syllables in total, distributed in 3 lines (5, 7, 5 syllables each, in that order) and tankas have 5 lines (5, 7, 5, 7, 7). ;-) |
