Accessibility compliance in Chinese
I'm having trouble finding standards for accessibility compliance when localizing into Chinese, whether it be Traditional or Simplified. The few references I found were mostly focused on the webpage itself and based on WCAG 2.0, but not on any support content posted in the web.
I'm mostly interested in knowing about standards for PDFs to be posted live. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi, after searching a bit I found out that even for Chiense language, the W3C requirements are applied as standard rules for accessibility compliance.
According to W3C, there are practically 23 settings of PDF files that need to be considered for the setting up of accessbile files for special need people.

Even though these requirements may vary for file type, I think the basic rules is to think of an alternative for any settings of the document that may present any difficulty for the reader.
(For example, here is a simple guide for word accessibility settng requirements which are pretty similar to those of PDF. WebAIM: Microsoft Word - Creating Accessible Documents)
W3C also privoded a list of softwares that provides accessibility checking and repair support: PDF Techniques | Techniques for WCAG 2.0
However, I didn´t find any specification about font type or font size requirements. (Did find something for web contents that specifies the requirement of providing different font size as options for anyone who may need them). So I guess the idea is to simply set up the file with all required tag, explanation and structure as detailed as posible so it can be easily understood.
In the case of Chinese, I gues the most important setting is to mark the document´s language as Chinese so it can be correctly read in case a voice reader engine is used.
To sum up, contrary to the less is more rule, in this case, we ought to say as much as we can 'coz more is definitely more

Hi, there is not much information about chinese for compliance. One of the things i found is that you can add the language pack for chinese to read an accessible PDF. I'll try it and keep you informed

One more thing ... Speech languages and voices are for windows and not for acrobat reader... you need to install the voices in windows to use with acrobat reader.

Do you mean that, if I install the Chinese reading functionalities in Windows, it will help Acrobat read the Chinese-compliant PDF? Will the Reader version do the work or will I need Acrobat Pro?Originally Posted by RodrigoDG

I think the acrobat reader is using the default voice engine that window has. So it depends on the language setting you have in your OS.
