Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Old Faithfull jokes thread! here to save the week.
Quote:
Mi amor, pasame al bebé.
:- Bueno, espera que llore.
No, pasameló ahora! ¿Por qué esperá a que llore!?
:- Por que no lo encuentro.
Quote:
Honey, hand me the baby.
:- Ok, just wait till he starts to cry.
No, now! Wait!, What do you mean 'till he starts to cry'?
:- because I cannot find him.

A comer abuela!

¡No te ofendas mucho! o(´д`o)
Qué tal algo así: And he died ꟷvictim of his poor grammar and an overly enthusiastic pyromaniac.

Uno largo para el Jueves!
Quote:

The Lover
A housewife receives her lover during the day when her husband is at work.
Little did she know that her nine year old son was hiding in the closet.
So the husband came early from work that day and the wife hides the lover in the closet.
The kid: 'It's dark in here'
The Lover: 'That's right'
The kid: 'Hey, I have this tennis 3-ball can, brand new'
The Lover: 'Good for you'
The kid: 'Wanna buy?'
The Lover: 'No Thanks'
The kid: 'My dad's out'
The Lover: 'OK, How much'
The kid: '250 Dollars'
Some weeks after the same thing happens:
The kid: 'It's dark in here'
The Lover: 'That's right'
The kid: 'I have this Tennis racket, brand new'
The Lover: 'Ok, How much?'
The kid: '750 Dollars'
The Lover: 'No way little dude, thanks'
The kid: 'my Dad's out, Cash or scream?'
The Lover: 'Ok fine! just stay quiet'
Days later the Dad says to the kid:
'Go pick the racket and the ball can, we are going to play tennis'
The kid: 'I can't dad, I sold them.'
The Dad: 'What? How?? ...How much did you get for'em??'
The kid: '1000 Dollars'
The Dad: 'That's terrible, you shouldn't overcharge your friends, That's IT! I'm taking you to confess to church.'
So they go to the Reverends, the Dad send's in the kid to the confession box and closes the door.
The kid: 'It's dark in here'
The Lover: 'That's rig... oh NOOOO!...'

Probemos con este:
Quote:
I went to the liquor store on my bike and bought a bottle of vodka and put it in the front basket...Then! it occurred to me that if I fall or something then the bottle might break. So I drank it all right there on the front of the store, and its a good thing i did, because on my way home I fell like 7 times!

CHRISTMAS JOKE! DARK Thursday Edition
Quote:
Dad was so upset when he opened my Christmas present he threw it at my head.
"Every Year it's socks and shoes! EVERY YEAR!"
"Chill out! it's the thought that counts!" I said trying to calm him down.
But he hopped out of his chair and kicked me in the face with his remaining leg!!

Hope not to offend anyone, have a HAPPY and Joyful holiday and remember to be kind to your family!

Quote:

Wife:- "I'll wash some tomorrow, go to sleep!"

Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Taken out (stolen, paraphrasing, honoring, homage) from a Stand-up comedian
Quote:
Laundry detergents now, show you that you can clean all sort of stains, and the main example was a blood and dirt stain on the T-Shirt, no no, NOT pants or socks.
They choose a heavily stained bloody muddy T-shirt.
So I'll tell this company that maybe the main problem isn't quite getting the clients to buy your products,
The Problem is that working with you is who wrote that cleaning blood and mud from your T-shirt is an every-day thing
Quote:

Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Quote:
Little Johnny is always being teased by the other neighborhood boys for looking dumb, to do so they making him choose between a nickel and a dime
And Little Johnny always takes the nickel. The kids laugh as they see him happily take the bigger coin.
One day, his father takes him aside and says, "Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. Don't you know that a dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel's bigger?"
Johnny grins and says, "Well, if I took the dime, they'd stop doing it, and so far I've made $20!"
Quote:

Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Quote:
The teacher wrote on the blackboard: "I ain't had no fun in months."
Then asked the class:- How should I correct this sentence?
Little Johnny raised his hand and replied:- Get yourself a date tonight!
Quote:
-
Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Quote:
The teacher asks, "George Washington not only chopped down his father's Cherry tree, but also admitted doing it. Do any of you know why his father didn't punish him?" Little Johnny replies, "Because George was the one holding the axe"
Quote:

Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Quote:
"Little Johnny, why does your little sister cry?"
"Because I helped her."
"But that is a good thing! What did you help her with?"
"I helped her eat all of HER gummy bears."
Quote:
Jaimito, ¿por qué está tu hermana llorando? ¿!Qué le hiciste!? ,
Nada! la ayudé.
Hmm..

I wanted to return to the old-faithful jokes thread, because sometimes the translating exercise requires to contemplate what jokes are translatable.
So I found out that most of the jokes for children have simple set-ups and witty punch-lines.

Because translating jokes NEVER GETS OLD!
Here ya' go!
Genie: You have 3 wishes.
Quote:
Wild Genie appears: "You have 3 wishes"
Stranding lonely tourist: I've seen this before. Whatever I wish for will come back and bite me in some way.
:- "I promise that won't happen. I'm so sure it won't I'll give you one millon wishes if it does"
:-Okay. I wish for a boomerang with teeth.
:- "You son of a...!!"

Re: Translating humour, the surviving joke
Quote:
"Pretty hot outside Huh" "Oh, shut up!"
