    Default Hola

Saludos! I actually already asked questions through some threads and received great help. Thanks to all. I'm very excited to have this resource. I interpret/translate in Spanish/English in Virginia, USA. Hard work but interesting and pays well. I hope to be able to help in one of these forums one day.

    Question Interpretation/Translation jobs

    Hi Salfi,
I've always been interested in pursuing translation / interpretation as a career, but I'm not really sure how to go about that. Could you provide some insight? I'll be an NC resident soon and I plan on teaching, but I'd really love to get involved with some other opportunities that come along with studying languages.

    Thanks!

    Un saludo

    Smile Hello Iylek

I personally really enjoy interpreting/translating. I work at the local court houses, Social Services, Health Dept, hospitals, schools, police, jailhouse etc...I speak Spanish/English. What lang do you speak? You might want to check out the courthouse in your area in NC. Ask them if they have or need interpreters. Also check out the local website for the court in your area. It will give the requirements for interpreters in your area. There does exist a certification in most states which I am working on getting. Court interpreting pays really well. There are really great criminal Span/English dictionaries, medical dictionaries etc...I got into the work basically by word of mouth. The courthouse found out and they told another courthouse, and they told another etc...If you want more info on court interpreting this is a REAL good starter book: The Practice of Court Interpreting by Alicia Edwards; ISBN 1556196849. If you are interested I can give you more books to read on. Let me know what happens.
