I have had this word translated as, "que se pega o prende con fuerza."
What do you think the best english translation would be?

I think: "Resourceful" is a good translation.

Actually, Emily, tenaz is translated as tenacious or determined. I think resourceful refers to a person "que tiene recursos, que es ingeniosa". But of course, both go hand in hand.
