Steprelatives
Hi, everybody.
I was wondering if you could help me translate the term STEPRELATIVES into Spanish.
I happened to come across "parientes por afinidad", but this translation is certainly incorrect from the legal point of view.
The people referred to by this Spanish expression is definitely wider than the one in English.
Thanks in advance,
Amelia

Estoy investigando, pero... provisionalmente puede ayudarte: "parientes lejanos"

Steprelatives
Dear David,
Thank you for your email. The meaning of this term is crystal clear, the problem is that there seems to be no exact translation.
Let's go on thinking!
Thanks:)

You´re right... it´s similar to translate "concuño" and "comadre"...
-
Step- indicates connection beween members of a family by the remarriage of a parent and not by blood. We use the terms padrastro, madrastra, hijastro, hijastra, hermanastro, hermanastra, etc, so I imagine step-relative could refer to any of them. I don't know an equivalent in Spanish
Good luck
Eulalia

parientastros!!!
En serio: parientes políticos

...también:
familia política...o sino...miembros de la familia política

O bien, parientes por afinidad...

Steprelatives
Yes, you are right. All these words include the concept of "steprelatives", but the problem is that "steprelatives" is more specific than "parientes políticos" or "parientes por afinidad".
Imagine a context where the steprelatives will inherit a land...
You have to be very specific.
