    Post Click or click on?

    Hi,

Which one do you use when referring to an icon or a virtual button? "click" or "click on"?

I've always used "click on" but that's actually a pretty good question....

Either one is acceptable I think BUT click on is the most widely used and sounds better. I think in Spanish it's [I]Haz clic en el icono[I] , no?

Thumbs up Re: Click or click on?

I also usually use "click on", but I suddenly realised while typing that there was another option...

Even this thread being closed, I would like to add my two cents.
When in IT we have to make instruction manuals or just guidelines for usage of a tool, it is sometimes used:
1 - Click the Update button...
2 - Click on the Update button...
3 - ... when the process finishes click Accept ...
4 - If an error appears just click outside the warning box

I believe that, like many things in English language, the context is the most important changing factor.

I think both are correct and can be used interchangeably.
