I think ensalada rusa is potato salad.
I thought that you were talking about potato salad as well. Even though the name says potato salad there are a bunch of ingredients that can be included besides potatoes.
I think ensalada rusa is potato salad as well.
I think it is potato salad, but I just don't see why the translation from English to Spanish would be so different. :p
I think Russian Salad sounds much more elegant then Potato Salad. The next time I go to KFC I´m going to order a side of biscuits and Russian Salad and see what happens.
LOL! Amayo that does sound pretty fancy! Unfortunately for us our KFCs don't have any Russian Salads, they just have coleslaw :(
Amayo, it's definitely much more elegant, please let us know what they tell you at KFC.
I was asking around here and I was told that ensalada rusa is made up of potatoes, green peas, carrots and mayonnaise (nothing more, nothing less).
I've never thought all this would come up after my comment about "ensalada rusa".
It's funny because in Brazil it's called "mayonnaise" and some of you mentioned it's called "potato salad", since both names are only a part of the salad, right?
Besides, a potato salad wouldn't consist only of patotoes...Otherwise it would be just "some potatoes". We have salads with potatoes and boiled eggs, for instance. A salad at least should have 2 ingredients. What do you think?
What KFC doesn´t serve potato salad in your area?? You guys got the short end of the stick on that one.
Actually Analaura, technically speaking, potato salad can be just potatoes and mayonnaise. But you def get kudos points for adding hard boiled eggs and other veggies!!
Does enslaada rusa have to have peas and carrots in it to be considered legitimate? What would you call just plain potato salad then? Papas con mayonesa?
Amayo we definitely have the short end of the stick over here for that one :(
And just today, I had potato salad :) even though it doesn't sound so exciting and fancy like saying I had some Russian Salad for lunch
Have you ever tried putting a little "salsa de barbuquoa" on you Russian Salad? It´s really good too!
Amayo, I've tried the bbq sauce on potato salad before, I have to agree with you, it's really really good!
kvillanueva how did you make your potato salad? I quite like the name Russian Salad instead of potato salad, far more elegant.
I would have to agree with PIM, I'm not too sure about mixing potato salad with BBQ sauce. Doesn't sound really good. LOL!! I love BBQ sauce but on my steaks, chicken, and burgers. I also like to eat my french fries with BBQ sauce. But now you have gotten me curious, I might just try it. :o
I understand your guys are hesitant, the idea is a little out there. However, I made this phenomenal discovery when I was eating baby back ribs and potato salad on the same plate. One of my ribs fell into the salad and that was when the great discovery was made!
Amayo, what kind of crazy advice are you giving these ladies??? Ensalada Rusa is Potato Salad, BTW.....doesn't matter that it has carrots, mayo, peas, etc. It's still Potato salad.
LOL @ Chris.r saying he's giving us crazy advice!! Amayo I think might have some crazy taste buds!
Amayo, after reading your reply to PIM's post, I must admit I have never been so confused in the entire month of September.
hey amayo, don't "meal" implicates "meat"?
Salvadorm, you can have a meal without meat. For the people that don't eat meat, you wouldn't consider their meals, Meals because they don't include meat?
the interest thing is that the amayo's food upgrades! I wish my food upgrades too xD
Meal means "comida" perhaps in Spanish comida has to have meat in it?
not really amayo, I was just confused by the similarity between these 2 words (for a non-english speaker "meal" and "meat" look alike) then I thought "meal mean meat" lol.
What exactly is in Waldorf salad, can someone please tell me.
Hi kvillanueva, it's similar to a green salad but the main ingredients are celery, apples (red & without the skin), walnuts and mayonnaise (which can be substituted for yogurt). I believe grapes are also added.
No potatoes in this one!
A Waldorf salad as I understand it is a mix of a regular salad and fruits salad mixed together and on top of that they throw on walnuts!! Crazy right?!? Leave it up to New Yorkers to think outside of the box.
Yeah, just as Amayo says, normal salad ingredients, like lettuce, some fruits, like apples, and walnuts, I can't imagine the taste, must be awesome.
