about beer...
hi!
I'm not drinking but translating about beer right now! my question is about the word "varietal" (identical in English and Spanish)... is it used in relation to beers as it is used with wines? does "a beer varietal" exist?
I'll appreciate any info about usage in EITHER Spanish or English, since I need to know about both languages.
THANKS, PALS, and BOTTOMS UP!:D

Re: about beer...
In English one speaks of "a variety" of beer, or several "varieties" of beer.

Re: about beer...
thanks, hermit... that's clear! (in Spanish it's the same! we even call them by their variety name: Porter, Stout, Red Lager, or "rubia", "negra", etc.) but I found the word "varietal" in an English text referred to beer... if it's not common, maybe it's a sort of "technical" usage by brewers? or maybe it's just this author's personal expression?

Re: about beer...
Right, Lauracipolla, technical term (adjective) referring to wine or grape
types, and it wouldn't surprise me if brewers and distillers include the
word in their professional writing, as they do with many other "oenological" terms...interesting topic.
