Quick Simple Translations?
Good Morning!
I am doing an assignment where I have to describe a picture and what the person in the picture is wearing or doing. I am describing a soccer picture. How would I say shin guards, cleats, and jersey in Spanish?
This is what I want to translate:
This is my favorite soccer player Abby Wombach. She is wearing a gold jersey. Her cleats are as gold as her jersey. She has blue shorts on, with a white number twenty on the left side. Her socks are also blue. Under her socks are her shin guards, which protect her shins. There is a small white stripe on her jersey. Also there is a white stripe and gold stripe on the socks. Here hair is pulled back, and she is going to shoot the ball.
I know the third sentence is "tan oro como" for as gold as. Any other help anyone would like to offer? Thank you :)
Re: Quick Simple Translations?
hi!!
Here are my suggestions:
shin guards: canilleras
cleats: botines
jersey: camiseta
I have to tell you that these options are from Argentina. I'm 100% sure that, depending on the flavour you need, the word change... Please tell us what Spanish would be more adecuate, and we'll try to help you...
:)
Re: Quick Simple Translations?
Well, this is for my Spainsh 2 Class.. Im not TOO sure, but I am thinking just "Mexican" spanish?
Re: Quick Simple Translations?
Yes, if you are from the US, you probably need Mexican Spanish...
The suggested translations are:
shin guards: espinilleras
cleats: botines de fútbol
jersey: camisola
And two possible translations for as gold as could be:
"sus botines son tan dorados como su camisola"
"...son del mismo color dorado que el de su camisola".
I hope I could help you!!!
Re: Quick Simple Translations?
Thank you very much. That is all I needed! :D
Re: Quick Simple Translations?
For "jersey" you can use the same word for Mexican Spanish. Another one is "casaca de futbol" (or football), also regularly used in Spanish US.
