How source FrameMaker changes are tracked in TRADOS

Hi,
as I am new to the forum I apologize if this is not the best place to post. I also welcome any suggestions.

Need some input on the following:

• English to Spanish translation
• Source content is in FrameMaker 7.2
• Source Frame files change from one version to another
• My company is looking for the capability from the vendor (SDL has been mentioned as they use/own TRADOS) to track changes in the updated source files after they are sent to the vendor for translation
• What is the process for that and which tools/apps/ process the vendor may use to track changes in text, index markers, variables
• Has anyone been through this process with TRADOS
• Are there alternatives (in terms of efficiency, cost and simplicity)
