Actually its pretty accurate what you did there... If you want it to shorten a bit and make ir a little bit more clear you can use "No estudie tanto como deberia". Keeps the same meaning :o

Actually you need to know when this person is saying that phrase.. If it is saying as he's having the exam or whatsoever he was being tested in, or if its saying it after it.
If its talking as right now, i'll put debiera... But if is something that has already pass i'll put deberia.
But, in way is correct. It sounds more... Erhmm... Nice(? with deberia. :o
