titulo de registro de marca
I'm learning to speak "legalese" and am translating a trademark application into english from spanish. One of the phrases reads as follows:
"Quien suscribe el presente titulo lo hace con fundamento en los articulos 6 fraccion lll y 7 BIS 2 de la Ley de la Propiedad Industrial;"
Can someone please explain to me what fraccion III and BIS 2 means?
Much obliged,
Rosy
what do "fracción" and "Bis" mean?
Hi Rosi,
fraccion makes reference to a minor part of a law, a subdivision or segment within a larger text.
BIS 2 I am not sure. (two is kind of confusing)
Bis is the name of some articles that some time after the first edition had been amended or updated, so the latest edition would show up the firt version plus the correction under the name of bis. e.g:
Artículo 16: ...
Artículo 16Bis: ...
Hope it helps!

Can you help me find the equivalent in english for the following phrase in spanish.
Quien suscribe el presente titulo lo hace con fundamento en los articulos 6 fraccion lll y 7 BIS 2 de la Ley de la Propiedad Industrial;
This is in the context of the registration of a trademark. I'm not sure if the word fraccion translates into section or subsection or clause... Can anyone help?
thank you,

vocabulary for Legislation of Intelectual Property Rights in USA
Hi Rosy,
I found on the page of SICE (the Organization of American State's Foreign Trade Information System) the document for the National Legislation of Intelectual Property Rights and the word "section" is used as you can see in the first article, in the first line.

Re: code for legal print and annotations
Also I found a very interesting and useful piece of information about the specific terminology for trademark registration provided by the INTA (International Trademark Association).
