Exclamation Included in the same service

It happens to be that many times I have to work on Graphic Design Tools... Of course I charge for that but ... do you think that translators should do the DTP as well even when we quote for it or Graphic Designers must be involved?

Arrow You have to charge it

You could charge it as DTP, or you could charge it because you charge the word more. There are differences, one thing is when they give you a PDF with the source file and you have to give them back a PDF with same layout. Other thing is when they give you a word and you have to return a word with the similar format, in that case you do not have to charge them.

    Default Dtp

Hay trabajos que si o si necesitan DTP, tales como brochoures, flyers, personal cards... implican la tarera de un diseñador y debe cobrarse por eso...

    Smile DTP and translators

    Hello People,

as a technical translator I had to deal many times with complex formats, images, etc, etc, but I translate the files "as they are" using Wordfast or Trados, and I can't go further for the same fee.

I understand what Marisa said and I have to agree: If a Graphic Designer must be involved, we should charge for that work.

    Cheers

    Jack

I agree with you Jack...I think we, as translators, have to concentrate on the text and leave the design and complex formats to the experts, graphic designers. And of course, we have to charge the client for that...

    Default dtp

hi everybody! In my opinion, all design work to be done on a file has to be charged extra and, of course, needs to hae a graphic designer involved in the process!

    Talking designer

In my case, I can handle translation tools, such as CATs and others, and of course I can install a graphic design tool and try to use it, but I don't think the work done would be of the same quality than that of a designer, in fact it could take me forever to do it, and I would have to charge more, for a lame image work.
