basically my task is to analyse a translation and i was wondering what pointers or direction i should go towards, below are the original spanish text and a translated version.

La lengua de las mariposas

Había mucha gente en la Alameda, toda con ropa de domingo. También habían bajado algunos grupos de las aldeas, mujeres enlutadas, paisanos viejos con chaleco y sombrero, niños con aire asustado, precedidos por algunos hombres con camisa azul y pistola al cinto. Dos filas de soldados abrían un pasillo desde la escalinata del ayuntamiento hasta unos camiones con remolque entoldado, como los que se usaban para transportar el ganado en la feria grande. Pero en la Alameda no había el bullicio de las ferias, sino un silencio grave, de Semana Santa. La gente no se saludaba. Ni siquiera parecían reconocerse los unos a los otros. Toda la atención estaba puesta en la fachada del ayuntamiento.
Un guardia entreabrió la puerta y recorrió el gentío con la mirada. Luego abrió del todo e hizo un gesto con el brazo. De la boca oscura del edificio, escoltados por otros guardias, salieron los detenidos. Iban atados de pies y manos, en silente cordada. De algunos no sabía el nombre, pero conocía todos aquellos rostros. El alcalde, los de los sindicatos, el bibliotecario del ateneo Resplandor Obrero, Charli, el vocalista de la Orquesta Sol y Vida, el cantero al que llamaban Hércules, padre de Dombodán… Y al final de la cordada, chepudo y feo como un sapo, el maestro.
Se escucharon algunas órdenes y gritos aislados que resonaron en la Alameda como petardos. Poco a poco, de la multitud fue saliendo un murmullo que acabó imitando aquellos insultos.
«¡Traidores! ¡Criminales! ¡Rojos!»
«Grita tú también, Ramón, por lo que más quieras, ¡grita!» Mi madre llevaba a papá cogido del brazo, como si lo sujetase con todas sus fuerzas para que no desfalleciera. «Que vean que gritas, Ramón, que vean que gritas!»
Y entonces oí cómo mi padre decía: «¡Traidores!» con un hilo de voz. Y luego, cada vez más fuerte, «¡Criminales! ¡Rojos!». Soltó del brazo a mi madre y se acercó más a la fila de los soldados, con la mirada enfurecida hacia el maestro. «¡Asesino! ¡Anarquista! ¡Comeniños!»
Ahora mamá trataba de retenerlo y le tiró de la chaqueta discretamente. Pero él estaba fuera de sí. «¡Cabrón! ¡Hijo de mala madre!» Nunca le había oído llamar eso a nadie, ni siquiera al árbitro en el campo de fútbol. «Su madre no tiene la culpa ¿eh, Moncho?, recuerda eso.» Pero ahora se volvía hacia mí enloquecido y me empujaba con la mirada, los ojos llenos de lágrimas y sangre. «¡Grítale tú también, Monchiño, grítale tú también!»
Cuando los camiones arrancaron, cargados de presos, yo fui uno de los niños que corrieron detrás, tirando piedras. Buscaba con desesperación el rostro del maestro para llamarle traidor y criminal. Pero el convoy era ya una nube de polvo a lo lejos y yo, en el medio de la Alameda, con los puños cerrados, sólo fui capaz de murmurar con rabia: «¡Sapo! ¡Tilonorrinco! ¡Iris!»

The Alameda was full of people in their Sunday best. People had come down from the villages too, women all in black, local men in waistcoat and hat, frightened-looking children, preceded by blue-shirted men with pistols in their belts. Two lines of soldiers were opening up a path from the town hall steps down to some lorries with covered trailers, like the ones used to transport cattle to the big market. But the Alameda was filled not with the bustle of market days, but with a grave silence, like during Holy Week. Nobody said hello. They didn’t even seem to recognize each other. All eyes were on the front of the town hall.
A policeman half-opened the town hall door and scanned the crowd. Then he flung the door open and made a gesture with his arm. Out of the dark mouth of the building, escorted by other policemen, came the detainees. They were silent, bound hand and foot and roped together. I didn’t know the names of all of them, but I knew their faces. The mayor, the men from the trades union, the librarian from the workers’ club, Charli, the singer with the Sol y Vida Orchestra, the stonemason everyone called Hercules and who was Dombodán’s father… And at the end of the line, hunchbacked and ugly as a toad, came the teacher.
A few shouted orders and isolated cries echoed along the Alameda like firecrackers. Gradually, a murmur began to emerge from the crowd, a murmur that finally took up those insults:
“Traitors! Criminals! Reds!”
“You shout too, Ramón, for God’s sake, shout!” My mother was gripping my father’s arm, as if it took all her strength to keep him from collapsing. “Let people see you shouting. Ramón, make sure they see you!”
And then I heard my father saying in the faintest of voices: “Traitors!” And then, getting louder and louder: “Criminals! Reds!” He freed himself from my mother’s grip and approached the line of soldiers, his furious gaze fixed on the teacher. “Murderer! Anarchist! Monster!”
Now my mother was trying to hold him back and tugging discreetly at his jacket. But he had lost all control. “Bastard! Son of a *****!” I had never heard him call anyone that, not even the football referee. “Not that his mother’s to blame, Moncho, remember that.” But now he turned his maddened, threatening gaze on me, his eyes filled with tears and blood. “You shout too, Monchiño, you shout too!”
When the lorries drew away, laden with prisoners, I was one of the children who ran behind them, throwing stones. I searched desperately for the teacher’s face, so that I could call him traitor and criminal. But the convoy was already just a distant cloud of dust, and as I stood in the middle of the Alameda, my fists clenched, all I could do was to mutter angrily: “Toad! Bowerbird! Iris!”
