Re: Muskogee Translations
Probably hundreds if not thousands of U.S. states, counties, cities, towns, rivers and lakes have names derived from native American languages. Most of the original colonies had names derived from England; like New York, New Hampshire, the Carolinas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia. After that they began to name new states with Indian names. Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Nebraska, etc.
Most of these Muskogean-named cities are located in the southeastern U.S. Some are as far west as Texas and Oklahoma due to the forced relocation of tribes.
Re: Muskogee Translations
I simply love this idea! Sometimes the names of cities, streets, avenues, etc. are chosen after important battles (death).

You're right Vicente. I personally love the name of the river that divide Maine and New Hampshire: "Piscataqua".
