Late deliveries from freelancers
Hello all,
I recently found myself in a situation where a freelancer simply decided not to deliver half a project on account of being "too busy" - he only informed me about this on the very day he was supposed to deliver, which was 10 days after he accepted the assignment.
How do you deal with this kind of behavior? Do you pay for the work he's done, or do you cancel payment for the entire assignment as a penalty?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Re: Late deliveries from freelancers
I had an experience like yours in the past. And I decided not to pay that translator (or paid a very small precentage) because I explained to him that I needed to reassign the whole thing and do it in half the time.. And had to pay someone to do what he decided not to.
Luckily, he understood, and recognized he had been very unprofessional.. But explained that the project was too difficult, and he simply coudnt carry on.

I would definitely withhold payment. With that money I would pay for expenses resulting from his mistake, for example, a higher rate for another translator to finish up his assignment quickly, a compensation to the client for a late delivery, etc.
