Yes TopNotch, I entered a few days ago and I found it's very professional.
I was looking for help with some problems with Wordfast and I entered to the discussion group (in Spanish). Additionally, there is a group in which you can subscribe in order to receive job alerts, of course only for Wordfast users. There isn't too much movement (at the moment, only three or four offers) but it's another open door.
Thank you for opening this thread.
Thanks for the info!! I'll check it out soon...
Hi guys I am seriously thinking about investing in a CAT tool. Iit’s about tine that I get one .I do not run a translation company: so I would use it for personal independent assignments Do you recommend wordfast? Which one do you think I should get?. I would really appreciate any advice on this :)
Hi Hebe,
I'd recommend you Trados (now SDL International) because it allows you to work with several file formats while Wordfast only supports MS Word files.
You may want to download a trial version and check it out!
Thank you so much Nadia. I will download it and I will let you know how was my first experience in the CAT world :D
Great! Then let me know how you liked it :)
As almost all the translations I do are in Word format, I like Wordfast. The second kind of format I translate is Power Point, but I use ppt Helper. Both are simple, cheap and easy to use tools, but enough for a high quality job.Quote:

On the other hand, many agencies ask you a discount for repetitions. But this is another story...
Thank you so much Julio: Sounds as if wordfast has all the features I look for (easy to use and cheap). I don’t do independent work for agencies. I work for a Firm and I just want to make my job a bit easier. I heard TRADOS requires training which I don’t have much time for. Would it also be the case of wordfast?
Best regards :) :)
Hi everyone! Trados is a good program, and it's not complicated if you know Wordfast, but it is really expensive, and I think it comes with SDLX now as a pack. TagEditor from Trados can handle almost any file, I recommend it.
Although I don’t have any information in regard to the prices of these programs, in your opinion is TRADOS worth the difference in money?. I need to make and investment decision I won’t regretQuote:

Thank you so much Veronica. It will probably be a median-run investment return. In the meantime, I will have to be happy with just getting some stress reduction in my work. Do you have any idea of how much the package for a freelancer is?Quote:

Tnaks again :)
Then Wordfast is the cheapest and easiest option. Depending on the number of repetitions, a CAT tool can reduce your job and increase your productivity... or your free time :DQuote:

I will keep you posted :)
Hola, a todos.
Tal vez ustedes puedan ayudarme.
Sorry!
Gracias por la atención.
