powerpoint files
Hi,
For those who work with MS PowerPoint files there is a new smart CAT tool - ppt.helper available at ppthelper.com.
If someone will use it please share your experience - I have tried this software with Trados and I wonder if it is compatible with Wordfast.
Many thanks,
Julia

Hi Julia S! Welcome!
I work with PowerPoint, I think I might find that useful.
I'll sure check that out, thanks so much!

PPTHelper
I would not pay USD 49.00. for a light application while the other CAT tools give you the chance to do the same job in one single working environment.

I have always used Tageditor to work with ppt files... What is the difference with that helper you mentioned?

Actually, TagEditor tends to extract large segments from powerpoint slides but not standard phrases (that can be entered in TM for future reference). And it is slow when the file is large. I tried T-Window in previous versions of Trados but it was rather "clumsy".
ppt.helper is much better in this respect and what is important (at least for me) the translation process is visible - you have two panes - one for the text and the other for the slide. Formatting is also kept to the original.
Recently, I have translated a project of 133 slides in ppt.helper and I did feel the difference!

I have used ppt helper to translate some projects (you have the opportunity to use the test program 50 times, no matter the extention). I found it's very simple, but it's a cheap option if you combine it with Wordfast.
