Now that I get to watch literally every animated movie on DVD with my little boy, I have developed a taste for them, I must confess. I even have my top-10 list.
My favorites are, in no particular order:C'mon guys, let's hear your opinions!!
- Monsters, Inc
- Chicken Little
- Madagascar
Have you seen "Happy feet", one of the best!!
it is!!! I love Happy Feet! but I found out that it's not very appealing to preschool kids since there are not many colors. Everything is black and light blue. I never thought about it that way until my son mentioned it, poor thing! "I want colors, mommy!"
That's really interesting!! I thought it would be appealing to children, there you are, one never knows...
It is true though, not many colours, and probably the dancing and the message and all is more for adults....
Hey, guys if you are into children's movies you have to see El Arca. It's an Argentinean-Hollywood co-productions and it rocks!!!!!!!!:D

I'd go for Happy Feet. I loved it. But it's true it's not that appealing for little children though.
Nobody named Finding Nemo, c'mon!!!! How could you people forget such a great movie?
I love finding nemo... but then I would also have to include most of Disney/pixar movies... they are great. I have a 3 year old nephew and he loves them too
Have you ever seen The Iron Giant? My four-year-old son really loves it (it's an excellent movie), as well as Aladin (he loves to play the games of the bonus DVD), The Incredibles,The Treasure Planet, and Lilo and Stitch. Now I'm introducing him to Star Wars (all six of them).

one question... do you have to take kids with you to see these movies??? I love them. besides the old Disney classics, which I saw when I was the "right age" to see them... more recently I really enjoyed the Ice Age I and II (specially the II). I went to the theatre with my aunt and we both laughed as much as the younger creatures!
I don't know if you have to bring kids... but when I want to see one of those movies I take my nephews or cousins. They are a great excuse and they love me!
I loved Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and most recently The Bee Movie. They are all so creative!
Some classics have been forgotten, including:
The Secret of NIMH (dark, but brilliant...)
An American Tail
and the 1985 Transformers movie...
I used to love "An American Tail" (AKA "Faivel"), so I bought the DVD for my 3-year old. He loved it at first and watched it over and over, until he started having little "nightmares" about the fire scene at the begining, so it was shelved. He's a sensitive little one, I guess. :)
mvictoria, please, please, please don't show him "The Secret of NIMH"...though it's always hard to turn down one of my recommendations, I know.

what is it with people and Tim Burton? While I enjoy his movies while they last, I don't understand why some people love them so much, they are "cult" - what's the secret?
I love the fact that his movies are "dark".
The only Tim Burton movie that I will rave about is "Big Fish", which is also his least "dark" movie...but I do think he has a great imagination and ability to translate that to the screen.
I looooooove "children's movies", I think most animated Disney films are real works of art. The character design, the backrounds, each character's moves, it's amazing, I love them more than CG animation.
Beauty and the Beast is just such a beautiful movie in every sense!! And the Lion King, Aladin, Brother Bear, and the old classics too.
One I really like that is not so "classic" is The Fox and the Hound, they are both so cuuute when they are little, and the message about friendship it has, it always makes me cry!!!
And for bigger kids I remember the adventure and fantasy movies I used to watch that I still like. The Dark Crystal is a-ma-zing, Legend, The Goonies, the Indiana Jones movies... maybe kids now like the High School Musical better that these :( :(
How about "Over the Hedge"?

When my little sister was still a kid I took her to the the movies to see the beauty and the beast and I enjoyed a lot . Haven´t seen any animated movies ever since
