The best comedy: 10!

I saw it twice... and I will see it more.
I have read that the guy who act in Borat have had some trouble with the country of the movie : Kazakhstan, because this country exist and it was too much, is it true ?
Yeap, it is true, also with some other people too.... he is the most politically incorrect journalist in the world.Quote:

Yeah, the critics, for first time perhaps, were unamimous for that comedy !
So, I supposed I must see it..
But the politically incorrect can be dangerous...
But he is so, politically incorrect, with so many minorities and people, that nobody could say anything....Quote:

It can be, yes..
Oscars are like CNN, close to be compare as a propaganda ceremony. It's hard to say that, but it's so true..
Everytime you see the sames actors, the sames directors.. oh please, I'm sure that there are more creativity resources in this country than Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg...
It's sur that they make good movies but is it posible to have a diversity ?
From time to time, they add some diveristy to be politically correct, but... Borat was not politically correct, just was a great movie... so, it doesn't work.... I think...Quote:

"Right now I'm saying it deserves to win Best Picture. I haven't seen a better movie this year," said Judd Apatow, the acclaimed director/ co-writer behind 2005's "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
Borat get a nomination, but for Adapted Screenplay.

But, I agree 100% that Borat "deserves to win Best Picture" this year!!!
And I also think that it deserves more than 1 nomination... best actor too for sure!
Upssss, you were totally right.... :pQuote:

Me segui riendo dos horas despues de irme del cine... al menos debiera estar NOMINADA para los Oscars de MEJOR ACTOR y MEJOR PELICULA.
Who's the Director of the movie ? The same guy...? That guy was rapper before, he presented one time the MTV Awards, do you remember with the nickname's "Ali G". He's the guy who drive the limousine car in the video of Madonna Music too... You see...?
I don't remember now whether the films by Michael Moore deserved an Oscar Award. I don't think so.
In fact, some nominees don't attend this show (rare) because they don't share the purpose of these awards. In some very rare cases, some people won the Award and neglected it.
In my opinion, these awards are closely related to the show business ($$$). ;)
Yeap, he is "Ali G".Quote:

I absolutely agree that the primary purpose of the Academy Awards propaganda, $$$ and on occasion, to make a political statement.
For example, a whole otra cosa: when Crash won. I'm still not sure what to make of that, but another celebrated white cop. We're supposed to feel bad for this racist criminal and perv, and fall in love with him when he saves the same woman he assaulted, at the end of the film. And, we're supposed to feel really bad for his in-training partner who stands by, watches, doesn't do a thing, then kills a guy and leaves him on the side of the road. Who is always on top at the end? omg I'm disgusted just thinking about it.
Well, my point is that movies that propagate stereotypes win Oscars... not the ones that take the raw, obvious and slap the audience in the face with it.
Entonces.
I saw BORAT, and although I was extremely disturbed, I must say that it was hands-down, one of the most funny, ridiculously... nevermind, my stomach hurt when I was done watching it, and I felt like I had to apologize publicly on behalf of my country upon leaving the theatre.
In regards to it winning or even being nominated, por fa! Remember the old guy who ate Borat's wife's milk/cheese? jajajaja... yeah, well, this movie winning the Oscar would be like that guy cracking a smile.
Nunca gonna happen.
Hi Carla, I liked Crash, although I though MAGNOLIA, which is a movie with the same format (the Movie of Coincidences - several stories crossing, or "crashing" into one another), was so much better and it was -obviously- ignored at the Oscars back in 2000.
Back to Crash, I do not think that we are supposed to simpathyse with Dillon's character, I didn't really take it that way. It is just another "coincidence" taken to the extreme, I think.
As for Borat, I LOVED it! Specially the Rodeo scene, when he sings his own version of the US anthem. People went nuts! and yes, it's waaay too politically incorrect for the Oscars.
