I've always wanted to go there, but it's really expensive to travel from South America.
Has anybody been there? Any island in particular?
Thanks!

I haven't my friend b<t I have always heard that Waikiki beach is really spectacular.. one of the best beaches in the World
I almost went there once when I was in the US but
I got my priorities straight and decided against it :)
Hope you get the chance and take advantage of it
Thanks for the recommendation, Hebe! I'll keep it in mind...IF I ever get the chance to go there :-D
I think the opening scene of Snakes on a Plane was filmed in Hawaii. Maybe the end too, where they are both surfing (Waikiki?) Just by that, it looked beautiful. And if you aren't familiar with the movie, I would recommend renting it. I believe it won a lot of Oscars when it came out, probably all of them.
OMG, Justin!!!! hehehehe!!!
FYI I had the pleasure of watching that masterpiece. My husband rented it actually, 2 years ago and I still cry when I think about it.
hehehe! highly recommended!
Now that you mentioned Hawaii as location for movies, it's also the home of our dear Losties!
There is actually a LOST TV tour around Waikiki that costs about $100 and takes you to a lot of the famous spots on the island. Interesting, huh?
LOST tours? Ok, thats it. Im going to have to go to Hawaii now. Bye everyone.
Bring some plane parts or something!! :-D
Haha you got it. see you at the orchid!
The Big Island is famous for its volcanoes. Kīlauea, the most active, has been erupting almost continuously for more than two decades. At the coast where the lava meets the ocean, one can sometimes see billows of white steam rising from off the shoreline. At night, the lava lights up the steam to give an orange glow.

How interesting! I would love to visit Hawaii. It's seems to be like a small paradise.
Saludiņos,
Bel :)
Me too... but I think that right now it's really expensive for me :(
it was expensive for us back in 2001 already, imagine now...
Start playing lotto, girls!
I am from there. I was born and raised on Maui which is the second largest of the Hawaiian chain. We do have the most beautiful beaches in the world. What is awesome is driving the coastline and being able to just stop on the side at anytime to jump in the ocean to swim or set a rod and fish. We\'re talking white sandy beaches with crystal clear blue ocean. Ahh yes it is true that it\'s quite expensive but it is well worth the cost. To all who haven\'t been and want to go...do it! You\'ll love it. If any questions about our Islands I\'d love to answer. Have a great day everyone...ALOOOOHA!
Hawaii is very beautiful. Each Island has something which makes it unique. My home is the Island of Maui which is the second largest island in the chain. Maui is nicknamed Garden Isle. We have a saying "Maui No Ka Oi" which translates to "Maui is the best". Not being biased or anything but Maui is the best. We are known for the lush greenery surrounding the island, not to mention the West Maui Mountains, the waterfalls and the mass of crystal clear beaches on black/white sand. If you ever get the chance to visit Hawaii do it...yes it\'s a little on the expensive side, but well worth it. See you there....Aloooooooha!
Hi brapoza,
Maui sounds very enchanting. Is there any season in particular that\'s good to visit?
Ahhhh that\'s the beauty of Hawaii. We have pretty much the same weather year round. Aside from a little rain here and there at the end of the year it\'s always sunny with trade winds to keep the heat at bay. So to answer your question any part of the year is the best. And if you are able to, go I promise you will LOVE it!
Now it sounds even better! It\'s definitely on my list to visit.
I know that Kauai is a hot spot for surfing, is it popular in Maui as well?
mvictoria!I went to Hawi with my family last month. It was a great experience .We enjoyed a lot. There were outstanding views. You should go there but consult to any trip advisor. They provide information about different packages. Through this way you can save your time and money too.
I agree with you jbsjohn. At night it presents beautiful scene. There are five active volcanoes Loihi, Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai and Haleakala. Kilauea is considered one of the most active volcanoes of the world. Mostly people came there just to watch this beauty.
Crobertson: YES! Maui has several surf spots. One of the more popular spots is Hookipa. Awesome waves! Another one is Peahi aka JAWS! The waves there are so narly you have to be shuttled out with a boat! Check it out.:D
Alfie sorry to correct you but Haleakala has been dormant for years. It is now quite a tourist attraction for hiking and sight seeing. Loihi is actually a new island being created by the volancoes Kilauea and Mauna Loa which are the only active volcanoes in Hawaii. It's very BEAUTIFUL!
You are right Brapoza ! I went there long time ago then Haleakala was a part of it but Hawaii is still an attractive place for tourists. I love hiking so I will go there again on my next vacations to enjoy this.
Ooh yes, you will most definitely enjoy hiking there Alfie! Correct there are many attractions there which make Hawaii's economy is very dependent on tourism. I tell everyone if they get a chance to they should visit and experience the Aloha spirit of the islands. :)
