Translating Is No Joke . . . or Is It?
Hi Gang,
Ever had to translate humor? I've just translated a post on the subject that I think you might find interesting. Hope you enjoy it! By the way, I'm new to the forum, so I'd like to say hello to everyone. I look forward to reading your comments.

Hey Mirkom66,
I totally agree with your blog.. I once tried to translate the lyrics of a song.. I never could finish it.. And I absolutely hated the experience. I am not of a very creative nature...
And welcome to the forum!!

Welcome to the forum Mirko!!
And what an interesting article do we have here!
I couldn't agree with you more, translating jokes and songs too, Joselas, I'm totally with you, are some of the most difficult things to translate.
Having been raised in a bilingual household, I must admit that I never had trouble understanding jokes in another language, but translating them it's a completely different thing.
The cultural aspect plays a particularly important role in this, although it's always a little like that when it comes to translating.
Does someone know of an article on this matter, the importance of the cultural aspect?
