Phrase translation help
May I ask what the following sentences say? Do they make sense? Or is there a better way to phrase what they are generally trying to express?
1. "te quiero no por lo que eres, te quiero por lo q soy cuando estoy contigo"
and could it be said like this instead, "me gustas no por lo que eres , me gustas por lo que soy cuando estoy contigo"
2. "Lo unico que quiero es verte, tocarte y que me toques otra vez"
3. "Te extrano, te quiero solo a ti y eres el unico hombre para el cual tengo ojos"

"te quiero no por lo que eres, te quiero por lo q soy cuando estoy contigo"
What it is saying is:
I love not for who you are, I love you what I am when I am with you. - the second sentence says instead of "love" more like "I like"
2. Says, "The only thing I want is to see you, touch you and that you touch me again"
3. Says, "I miss you, I love only you, you are the only man for who I have eyes for"...
If it could be expressed better - probably but it sounds about right.

I agree with atranslator, except that I would say "I love you not for who you are......
As regards your other question, the difference between "te quiero" and "me gustas" is that "te quiero" implies a feeling , while "me gustas" implies a mere attraction .
Hope this helps

1. "te quiero no por lo que eres, te quiero por lo q soy cuando estoy contigo"
I love you not for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. (Es un refrán muy conocido)
and could it be said like this instead, "me gustas no por lo que eres , me gustas por lo que soy cuando estoy contigo"
2. "Lo unico que quiero es verte, tocarte y que me toques otra vez"
The only thing I want is to see you, touch you and have you touch me agian.
3. "Te extrano, te quiero solo a ti y eres el unico hombre para el cual tengo ojos"
I miss you, I love only you and you are the only man I have eyes for.

I would say it is more appropriate to say
who you are instead of what you are, it implies smth different and it turns out to be not so romantic... don't you think?
we could also say without translating literally and giving it a more romantic touch
I love you not for who you are but for how I feel when I am with you...
like it?

It could be translated as "who", except it is a very well-known phrase. I googled "I love you not for what" and "I love you not for who" and got over 3000 hits for the first and less than 80 for the second.
If what is needed is to say something romantic, I'd go with "who", but if you're looking for an accurate translation of a famous saying, I'd have to go with "what".

the whole poem
The situation is the same famous phrase has been translated both ways, with "what" and with "who"
this is a quote by Roy Croft
I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.
and in a different page you can find the same quote by Roy Croft with who
“I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.”
So, after all it does not make a difference except for the "final consumer" who should be using the one he/she likes the most. I go for "who", to me as I said before, it "sounds" more romantic.
By the way, I would like to share the whole poem with all of you. Maybe we should try another Forum just for Poems. What does Administrator think???? Off the record and poems???? Here it goes,
I love you,
Not only for who you are,
But for who I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can’t help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.
I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.
I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend is,
After all.”
