illustration vs illustration
The sentence:
Si se trata de una hoja suelta recibe el nombre de estampa, mientras que cuando forma parte de una obra bibliográfica acompañando a un texto nos referimos a él como ilustración.
and my attempt:
If it is a loose leaf receives the name of illustration, whereas when it forms part of a bibliographical work accompanying a text we talked about it as an illustration
Re: illustration vs illustration
I am not sure this difference exists in English.
In case it does, I would say: "picture" in the first case and "ilustration" in the second one.
Re: illustration vs illustration
A picture in a book is indeed an illustration. If an ordinary printed picture is shown by itself, and we do not know the technique by which it was made, we usually refer to it just as a “print”. But both are pictures.
