Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
I would appreciate any and all help I could get to improve this letter. I am a middle school teacher outside of Dallas, Texas and I teach English as a Second Language. I teach advanced English and my goal is to help students pass the state test so they will be able to graduate to the next grade. Many of my students speak a good amount of English but their parents do not. Some of their parents are uneducated (did not finish elementary school in the home country) or illiterate so it makes things a bit more complicated. As such, I want my letter to sound professional and educated but very accessible and not snobby in the least. Many of the families are Mexican or Salvadorian--- if that helps for translation reasons.
I studied Spanish when I was younger and I can "get by" in talking with my students' parents but this is a new school for me and I want the parents to feel comfortable that I will do what I can to help both them and their students.
Can you please check it out and let me know what I can do to improve/correct it?
Thanks so much.
Hola!
Gracias!
Many thanks for looking at this!!!
Re: Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
I have seen that many people have read this but I don't have any comments. I guess I should have written my post a bit differently before and asked for corrections AND comments. If it is okay the way it is, please let me know as I am still not sure.
Thanks!
Re: Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
Personally, there was so much information in the first half of your message that I got lost before reaching the actual text. Please simplify. The letter needs much rewriting.
Re: Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
Also, Ms. is not used in Spanish because there is no equivalent for it. Rather put 'Srta.' (Miss.), 'Sra.' (Mrs.), or if you want your marital status to remain anonymous, just leave 'la maestra´ (teacher) whichever your preference may be.
Re: Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
Thank you, michelleba... I will do my best to correct it.
I used "Ms. W" only because the parents already say that. I changed it to "Sra."
I want the letter to be correct but not arrogant. And again, my Spanish is nowhere near perfect so this is difficult for me.
Thank you for any and all help!

Re: Teacher looking for translation help for a parent letter
Hi! I am a teacher too
What about this:
Hola!
Gracias!
