Grammar help?
I had to translate a couple of paragraphs of text for my spanish class and I'm wondering if I have the translations correct.
Here's the english:
It was Sunday, August 25--a day we were never going to forget. It was very warm and windy outside that morning. The day before was so different. During those happy hours, the sun was shining and birds were singing. It was a perfect day. Now, the branches of the trees swayed in the wind. The waves were high, and splashed violently against the rocks on the shore. While storm clouds darkened the sky, the birds were flying away to find a safe haven.
And the spanish:
era domingo, 25 de Augusto--un dia que nunca ibamos a olvidar. Hace mucho calor y era ventoso alfuera esa manana. El dia antes fue muy tan diferente. Durante esas alegre horas, el sol brillaba y los pajaros cantaban. Fue un dia perfecto. Ahora, las ramas de los arboles sacudidos por el viento. Las olas eran altas, y salpicado que nubes de tormenta oscurece el cielo, las aves volaban lejos para encontrar un refugio seguro.
Does that sound right?
