Help with non-violence event translation
Greetings! I work for a non-profit where we are planning an event to mourn the disturbingly high number of young lives lost to violence in Oakland. We want to reach out to our Spanish-speaking community members, but can't afford the resources for translation. Could anyone help us with the following phrases?
-Community Altar Building: Lost lives of 2008
-Children's story corner
-Oakland Altar Tree
Thank you for any advice you can offer!
Peace,
Shannon
Re: Help with non-violence event translation
Hi Shannon. I am a Spanish translator and this is my translation:
-Community Altar Building: Lost lives of 2008
-Edificio del altar de la comunidad: vidas perdidas de 2008
-Children's story corner
-Rincón de relatos para niños
-Oakland Altar Tree
-Árbol del altar de Oakland
By the way, I am not sure about the translation of "Oakland Altar Tree". Can you provide a definition, please?
Actually some context would be useful for a more accurate translation. Let´s wait for a second opinion. I hope this will help a little.

Re: Help with non-violence event translation
Hi! I would just make small changes
Quote:
vidas perdidas en 2008
Quote:
Árbol altar de Oakland
Of course, for a better translation, we would need a definition for this, as spanishguitar explained.
Re: Help with non-violence event translation
Hi Sandra,
Thanks for the corrections. I agree with you.
I thought about "árbol altar" too, but I was not sure.
So the definitive translation would be:
-Community Altar Building: Lost lives of 2008
-Edificio del altar de la comunidad: vidas perdidas en 2008
-Children's story corner
-Rincón de relatos para niños
-Oakland Altar Tree
-Árbol altar de Oakland
