In spain we say : chanclas
in Chile we say pantuflas...pantinas...
Pantuflas, that's interesting. In Spain we would think of "zapatillas" (slippers) hearing this word.;)Quote:

This is really amazing! In Argentina we would also think of slippers if you say "pantuflas"...
Flip-flops would be "ojotas" here, but if you prefer a more neutral and general word, we also accept "chinelas" (used to refer to any kind of informal sandals).

In Mexico it is common to hear the Nautla word for sandal: "Huarache". they also use chanclas.

they are "chancletas" in Colombia, most of them are rubber made

Yo también las llamo chancletas o chanclas (pelín más familiar el último). Las pantuflas son para mí definitivamente las zapatillas de estar por casa, aunque no es una palabra que yo personalmente utilizaria (diría simplemente las zapatillas). Me recuerdan a Don Pantuflo, qe no estoy segura de quien era, pero suena que era el papi de los Zipi y Zape! :D
