What is the meaning of Evil Pools?

Well... I'm a Native Spanish Speaker and I'm translating a text about social anthopology. The question is: what is the meaning of the expression Evil pools? The text says:

" ...we compiled a list of thirty themes (...) This list included (...) six theriomorphic apparitions (...) and five references to common supernatural themes: the Neverworld (...) and the Evil Pools"

I'll be really grateful if you have the answer... It would be wonderful if you know the term in Spanish, but the definition in English can be very helpful...
