meaning of the word, "wealth," etc.
I need to translate "wealth," but in a sense more global than just money or material belongings. This rules out "riqueza". Some possibilities are "haber" or "caudal," but these words don't seem to have that sort of connotation in Central American Spanish.
I also need to translate "intern" and "iinternship," but not in a medical sense. The usual Spanish equivalents in Central America are respectively "practicante" and "practica." Does anyone know of any other words that could describe a person being taught a trade or profession in a situation in which he is living in a dormitory situation. "Aprendiz" is not adequate in this context.

Translation of the word "wealth"
In the context given, I think the best translation would be "fortuna". Someone who is "afortunado" may enjoy many things: wealth, love, health (salud, dinero, y amor). This is compared to the word "riqueza". There is a fable entitled "La riqueza y la fortuna" that compares wealth and "fortuna". In this context, I don't think there is an English equivalent for this word. But I definitely suggest "fortuna".
