Flor, "unto" es bastante arcaico, pero a lo mejor ya sabe eso. Fuera de la Biblia y la literatura vieja, casi nunca se ve. En "Bible.cc" encontré una de las frases más conocidas del idioma inglés en las cuales aparecen "unto": Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's. Casi siempre usaron "to" en las traducciones modernas.

En esta página encontré un montón de traducciones al inglés moderno de uno de los usos más conocidos de "unto" del idioma inglés: Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's. Casi siempre fue traducido como "to" Inglés. Es decir, como "a" en español.
La palabra es muy arcaica y encontrada pocas veces fuera de la Biblia o los tomos de autores como Shakespeare, Poe, etc.

La palabra "onto" es curiosa. Es, sin duda, una combinación de "on" y "to". Típicamente se traduce como "a + el artículo o definido o no definido".
The book fell from the table onto the floor. ...al piso.
The leaf fell from the sky onto the man's head. ....a la cabeza del señor.
