Pedirle peras al olmo

Hi everyone,

I recently heard that expression in spanish: Pedirle peras al olmo.
As a french native, i can't find the equivalent saying in french (or english).

Maybe "les chats ne font pas des chiens"?

I guess there is no equivalent in english, or french... I am still listening if someone can help me out!;)

I didn't know the expression "pedirle peras al olmo"either and I don't think there is a French (nor English) saying that exactly means the same.

In trying to think of an exact equivalent in English this is the closest I can think of.

I knew the song but forgot the words long ago because it wasn't a favorite. My favorite Como song was/is My One and Only Heart. I've got that one on my iPod.;)
