    Default Urgent, please help....

Hello to all...I am incredibly sick with a high fever and have a translation due tomorrow or the next day at the latest. Medical translations make up less than 1% of my business. I have a small Spanish/English medical dictionary. These words are not in it.
I tried online with no luck. I called a friend in Spain, a doctor, and he's out of town. I called Borders and Barnes & Noble here in town and they don't have any Spanish/English medical dictionaries in stock. And I think some of these words are misspelled. They are hard to read as my fever is hurting my vision, and it's from a fax.

The client is a 58 yr. old man with a back problem and prior spinal cord surgery from Mexico, and this is a letter from his doctor in Jalisco...the words I can't find are:

    espondiloartrosis (chronic cervical)

esondilolisoesis (? smeared on the fax)

artodesis anerior mediante aloinjerto (y tornillos--and screws--describes previous spinal surgery of L-5/S-1 in 1992--anerior=anterior? aloinjerto I can't find either)

    radiculopatia (cervical--affecting his upper body)

This is a letter from the guy's doctor outlining his history of surgery and current status, as well as his prognosis. He is advised to have physical therapy and bed rest as well as "desplazamiento" for the next 4-6 months.

Desplazamiento, displacement, doesn't sound right and I wonder if the MD refers to not working? This is for an immigration atty. and usually these letters are used to get advance parole for a clt. in immigration proceedings to leave the US if a family member of the person immigrating is gravely ill and/or needs constant care in their home country. I imagine that's the reason for the letter--her clt. is going to try to show he/she needs to return to Mexico to help his/her father or husband. (It's usually a long shot, most get denied)

    Thank you all very much...

Hi Lautaro, this is what I found, hope it helps!

espondiloartrosis: spondyloarthrosis (degeneración del núcleo pulposo del disco intervertebral) - check also: cervical disk degeneration/degenerative disease

    aloinjerto: allograft

I think in your context it makes sense.

I've never seen "desplazamiento" next to bed rest, it could be the opposite, to avoid moving or traveling.

Well, I hope you get better soon! Good luck!

Thank you Nadia! Yes! This makes perfect sense given the client's back problems and surgical history, and the translation is finished and my husband is driving to the attorney's office with it right now.

And I am off for a little bed rest of my own.

Thank you again~~your efforts and answers are much, much appreciated.

You're welcome. I don't know why I thought you were Lautaro, sorry for that!
If you don't have a Spanish Medical Dictionary in your computer try to find the one called "Mosby", it is very useful.
