    Default cirujano del pueblo

Does anyone know the English (British and/or American) equivalent to "cirujano del pueblo", please?

    Thanks for the reply mem286.

"Town surgeon" to my ears at least, either sounds somewhat historical, from a American Western movie perhaps or from Victorian England or earlier or is being used purely descriptively, i.e. a surgeon practising in a small town.

The text I'm looking at is in modern South American times where at least reasonably modern hospitals and medical facilities exist.

Could he be described just as a "general surgeon"?

Yes, I guess you're right. To me it sounds like an old expression too

Yes, I think so. Have a look at this link: http://www.locumtenens.com/Physician...rolina-109726/

I agree with Mem, town surgeon is a good traslation for the term. In Spanish it sounds exaclty like in Eglish!
