how does one become a translator?
is it enough to know different languages or to know a foreign language and have lived in a different country to become a transaltor?, Is it necessary to have studied the theory? For you, what is more important, theory or experience? what do you think? |

Hi rchl! BOTH are important! The perfect equilibrium... as in life. Studying is always important, and experience gives you that added value that books don't...

Hi, rchl:
Mem is right, both theory and experience are equally important for a translator, but I'd add one more ingredient: READING. A good translator is always a good reader, so if you want to become translator, read as much as you can, tons of books, magazines, newspapers, but mainly books. Saludos |
