Greetings,
I have worked as an in house translator for over 7 years and have done a limited amount of freelance translation as well as simultaneous interpretation (English into Spanish). Now I would like to establish myself as a freelance translator. Before sending mass emails including my resume and cover letter, I would like to know which computer programs would translation companies expect freelancers to master. For instance, I have never used machine translation programs. If I don’t mention that I use them, am I significantly diminishing my chances? Also, I am proficient in Word for PC and Mac, Internet, Adobe, but that’s it. What others are an absolute must? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. With best wishes, Annette |

Hi Annette!
I think you should learn Trados (and TagEditor), so far it's the most requested CAT tool... Good luck! |

You can try a demo, and see the tutorials, and then you can practice with some files you have... (word, excel, power point are some of the most required...)
good luck! |
