Default Back translation

Dear colleagues
One of my clients has asked me to translate a file for which he is gonna get a back translation afterwards. Does any of you have experience in back translations? What format should I deliver my translation? I was thinking about making an xls sheet with three columns: source, target, and back translation. Do you think it's a good idea?
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
