Default Windows Vista/Trados

Does anyone know if Trados and Windows Vista are compatible? I have a laptop with vista and microsoft office 2007 and from what I have heard, Trados doesn't work well with vista and I haven't been able to open up Tag Editor or any other word document with it. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks!

I have the exact same problem. Any help from our colleagues, please. I'm guessing other translators have the same problem too, and someone must've already figured it out, no?....

I don't know with Vista, but I couldn't run it with Office 2007 in XP. In the end, I went back to Word 2003 and had no more problems. I found a way to have both Word 2003 and 2007 in the same system that I explained in the following thread http://www.english-spanish-translato...lp-please.html (in XP, not Vista)
I couldn't have the time to try it in Vista yet, but everytihing I've read about it is not encouraging. Any news, I'll let you know.

Hi! I finally tried it with Vista in Word 2003 and works fine!! I didn't install Office 2007, but 2003 because I get lost with the 2007 version... I can't find anything in Word 2007.
By the way, I love Vista! I don't understand why so many people don't like it. I've read somewhere the combination Trados-Office 2007-Vista runs quite slow, but that doesn't happen to me with Word 2003.

Hope it helps!

hi! I have Windows Vista and I can't use Trados with it. I could only install the Trial Version, which was useless. I asked the SDL people about it, and they said that only Trados 2007 is compatible with Vista, but I still haven't been able to get it! If you find it, let me know!

Default What??

Hi Marνa Laura!
I can't believe they told you Vista just works with Trados 2007!!!! I AM using Vista with Trados 7, and Multiterm and Tageditor all work fine. Just one thing: don't use it with Word 2007!!! Use Word 2003... and you'll have no problem. I can tell you how to get Trados 7, just let me with a private message if you are interested.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the links Mer! I am just a little confused about one thing. So if you already have Office 2007 installed, you must first uninstall it and reinstall it with the function "do not uninstall previous versions" turned on? Does this take up a lot of memory? I have 1 gig of memory and am worried that having these two versions plus trados/trados supplements will consume a lot of memory. What do you think?

Hi sarab!
I'd just uninstall Office 2007 and install Office 2003. Trados is a mess with Office 2007 (and it's not just me who had problems with that combination... believe me). In case you need, for instance to open a .docx file (which is Word 20007 extension) you can download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Hope it helps sarab!
