"Postularse"...hmm.., al menos en este contexto yo lo he visto muy poco común. Su uso, de acuerdo a lo que he sabido y visto, está más ligado al acto de proponer a un candidato para un cargo electivo, y de vez en cuando, se puede utilizar este verbo cuando se trata de solicitar dinero para utilizarlo con fines benéficos o religiosos.
En el caso que nos ocupa("aplicar" referido a "postular") yo preferiría decir que "to apply" no debe ser traducido al español literalmente cayendo en el uso del verbo del idioma fuente("aplicar") sino "llenar una solicitud de trabajo" o "presentar una solicitud de empleo".
